Oil and gas giant ExxonMobil has taken a step forward with regard to the energy transition, announcing on February 1 that it was launching a new low-carbon business. The business, ExxonMobil Low Carbon Solutions, will initially focus on carbon capture and storage (CCS).
The news marks a shift in the US generally where companies have been slower to adapt their businesses to the new pressures. Indeed, French major Total quit the American Petroleum Institute owing to the rift in policy objectives.

Singapore’s Pavilion Energy and US major Chevron have signed a six-year LNG sale and purchase agreement for the supply of approximately 0.5mn mt/year of LNG to Singapore from 2023.
Each LNG cargo delivered will be accompanied by a statement of its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions measured from wellhead to discharge port, Pavilion said.
Pavilion said that together with its partners it was committed to co-developing and implementing a GHG quantification and reporting methodology for LNG. The methodology is being developed based on internationally recognised standards and will cover emissions from wellhead-to-discharge terminal, including those connected with LNG transportation, it added.

Norway s DNV GL said on February 22 it had won a three-year contract from Total for multiple services across the French major s oil and gas operations in the UK North Sea.
DNV GL will provide core services such as verification, classification and flag, risk advisory services and major accident hazard awareness training at the Shetland gas plant, the Elgin-Franklin area and the Alwyn platform. It will also continue providing services at the Culzean and Gryphon facilities, which Total acquired in 2018 through the takeover of Denmark s Maersk Oil. DNV GL was the incumbent safety services provider at Maersk Oil s assets.
The power transmission & distribution (PT&D) business of Larsen & Toubro has won a slew of orders across its spectrum of offerings.According to L&T s classification, the value of large contract lies between Rs 2,500 crore to Rs 5,000 crore.
PT&D has secured two EPC orders to establish more than 400 MW solar photovoltaic projects in the state of Gujarat.
A 765kV double circuit transmission line package has been received through a project specific transmission company.
In West Bengal, orders have been received to supply and install high voltage distribution systems in certain districts on a turnkey mode. This grid modernization programme in semi-urban and rural areas is being implemented by the state with multilateral assistance. Another order to construct 220kV and 132kV transmission lines has been won from the state transmission utility.
